Diving at Forgetmenot Pond, July 2004

I took these photographs in July 2004 diving at Forgetmenot Pond, 30 km. S.W. of Brag Creek, just west of Calgary. This pond sits ajacent to the Elbow River, and features crystal clear (50-100 ft. visibility) ice cold (43 F) water. Maximum depth is 18 ft. with a silty bottom, making this an excellent training area for buoyancy and trim.

These pictures show the deadfall trees in the pond, plus a variety of cinder blocks. You can also see the algae on the rocks across the pond from the entry point, plus one of the many places where water flows into the pond from rocky places in the bottom. Finally, there's a picture of the plaque that was placed in the pond to honor Robert Vanderweil, a Calgary Police Officer killed in the line of duty (he was an avid diver).
