Assembling the operator panel 2025-12-19

After some initial hiccups trying to eliminate a gap that turns out to be OK, I soldered the operator's panel together. I am really please with how it turned out.

The tape I use is 'Frog Tape', a type of painter's tape that is very low 'stick' which allows it to hold and then be removed without disrupting the surface that was taped. I've had some bad experiences with true masking tape (the blond color tape) if you let it sit for any time, so never use it at all now.

I also found it easier to tape up the bottom and back panels when soldering instead of using the one-hand method in the demonstration video. I'm just more comfortable with lots of painter's tape.

I had an email discussion with Oscar on the small gap between bottom and back panels, which he also confirmed. The important point in assembly is this gap cannot be eliminated (it's about 0.5mm) but should be even across the panel length.
